From the Land of the Beautiful

Looks like in Scandinavia, the land of beautiful people, they get what our site is trying to do:

Sweden: Article about BeautifulJobSeekers on Metrojobb.se
Norway: Article about BeautifulJobSeekers on Aftenposten

The Aftenposten article acknowledges that beauty and attraction, indeed have a place in the workplace:

Several previous studies have shown that attractive people are viewed as smarter and earn more.

Aftenposten has also previously written about a survey, which showed that:

90 percent of employers in the Swedish service sector, want attractive and well-trained workers.

Thank you very much to the Swedes: Tack så mycket!
Thank you very much to the Norwegians: Tusen takk!

Well-Balanced Piece by MainStreet.com

MainStreet.com, sister site to TheStreet.com, has jumped into the Great Debate in a posting entitled, “Are You Pretty Enough to Get a Job?” (by Seth Fiegerman).

Unfortunately, it turns out there are in fact several studies to support the underlying premise of BeautifulJobSeekers.com. Attractive employees tend to get paid more and are often favored in the hiring process.

Couldn’t have said it better ourselves. Thanks for the well-balanced piece Seth.

Eilene Zimmerman: Moral Cop by Day

Eliene Zimmerman’s recent blog post on TrueSlant.com “Are You A Beautiful Job Seeker? Upload Your Picture And Find Out!“, just doesn’t seem to get the point. Other than taking on the job of copy edit sherrif, gosh these bloggers sure have a lot of time on their hands, she just doesn’t understand the widespread demand for good looking people:

“I can’t imagine the kind of companies that really care how good looking their employees are …unless it’s a bar, perhaps, or an escort service.”

Really Zimmerman? Just bars and escort services, eh? What about trade show promotional girls, cheerleaders, dancers, models, actresses, restaurant hosts, pharmaceutical sales reps (ever seen an ugly one?), MMA and boxing ring girls, retail sales and on and on.

Now, you can argue that it shouldn’t be this way, but we’ll let you be both the copy edit sheriff as well as the moral police.

The Most Evil Website on the Planet?

My child prefers negative-attention over no attention at all.

If you listen to the negative-attention seeking bloggers, whose primary job is to earn traffic by screaming well-articulated tantrums, BeautifulJobSeekers.com is the most evil website on God’s green earth. How dare we advertise for talent, brains and personal appearance? How dare we talk about something that already exists — the scientific fact that beautiful people attract more customers in many situations? How dare we make profits while fulfilling this need?

Check out Mary Ann Milbourn’s piece on her recent Orange County Register blog, “Does beauty count in getting a job?“. By the way, readers of her blog posting answered a survey on the question: 53% voted for “Yes, who wants to work with ugly people?” A little harsh but it’s Mary’s own readers.

Attention Bloggers: If you believe in free markets, free speech and freedom of choice, then you believe in BeautifulJobSeekers.com. It’s way past your nap time.
